Valley City - Liverpool Twp
Bicentennial Celebration
1810 - 2010

Valley City Celebrates!

Liverpool Township is the first Medina County township to be continuously settled since 1810. Liverpool/Valley City is marking that distinction during its 200th birthday year in 2010. The Liverpool Township Historical Society has begun organizing and planning for this bicentennial year by forming a group of interested citizens and historians who wish to bring the past to the present by hosting a series of community events, gatherings, and special projects for 2010. This group is the Liverpool Township Bicentennial Committee.

Within its members, a Steering Committee has been formed to organize and direct the Bicentennial members. The Steering Committee is led by Historical Society president
La Verne Tolsma with the help of co-directors Judy Von Duyke and Kim Grieco. Many other community volunteers lead the “work” committees: Cindy Steeb as Fundraising chairperson, Suzie Neff for Events, Kim Grieco on Publications, and Paul Schaefer with the Log Cabin Committee. The Steering Committee is currently recruiting other community leaders to attend monthly meetings and to encourage all Valley City organizations to take part in the celebration.  If you are interested helping, please contact us.

August 27, 2010, 7:00pm - 8:30pm at Mill Stream Park

Free Community Concert - USAF Band of Flight

Please come early and bring a lawn chair or blanket. Because of State Route 303 being closed for the fair, we are allowing only handicapped and senior citizen parking in the park. Others are being asked to take advantage of our special  free shuttle service, available Friday night only! Beginning at 5:30 pm, two shuttles will be running from Riverside Rehabilitation Center on Grafton Rd (just west of SR 252), the Liverpool Community Center (6801 School St) , St. Paul's Church (1377 Lester Rd), LifeSpring Community Church (1638 Lester Rd), St Martin's Chuch (1800 Station Rd), and the parking lot behind the Town Hall. These shuttles will drop you off in Mill Stream Park and then take you back to your car following the concert. They will continue to run until 11:00pm for those who want to stop down at the fair. The last shuttle will leave from behind the Town Hall immediately following the Fire Department's drawing, to return the last of the crowd to their vehicles.
